This past weekend, the Talbot Trail U18A Hockey Team traveled to Niagara Falls, Ontario to compete in the Peter Mancuso November Challenge.
After opening the tournament with a lost
to Barrie, the team found its stride on Saturday with 2 convincing wins to
finish out round robin play. With a 2
and 1 record, the team was able to advance to the Semi-Finals to once again
face off against Barrie.
In the Semi-Finals, both teams fought hard. Heading into the 3rd period, the
score was 0-0 and it would remain that way until under 2 minutes left to play
in regulation. That is when Talbot Trail
would finally find the back of the net and in doing so win the game by a score of
1-0.
Next up, was the Championship Game against
the Upper York Admirals. Talbot Trail controlled
the play for much of the game. Heading
into the 3rd period the score was 2-0 for Talbot and it would remain
that way until the end! So with a final
score of 2-0 the Talbot Trail U18A Hockey Team was crowned Tournament Champions!
As their coach, I am very pleased with how
the boys played! Their ability to learn
new things and incorporate what they have learned into the game is second to
none. They also competed with 100%
effort, playing each game with no regrets.
And finally…….finally…..we played a very disciplined style of
hockey! So Congratulations Team! Enjoy it for a moment, because starting
tomorrow, there is more work to be done!
