What a year this was.
When other teams got players back from junior hockey, we lost 2 players to junior hockey. We also lost coaches in various degrees to junior hockey and other commitments. Then on top of all that, we had to deal with injuries, suspensions and vacations which led to a short bench for most of the season.
Yet through it all, this team never gave up. When unforeseen circumstances seemed to be piling up against us, this team fought back and because of that (even though we fell a little short) we still had a very successful season.
We won the Niagara Falls Tournament in November. We finished 3rd in Bluewater season play. We finished 2nd in round robin play during playoffs. We lost in OT in game 4 of a four point series in the semi-finals. We then went on to win the Bluewater Championship.
Our overall record was 28-16-9-2. Our goal of averaging around 1.5 GA was met. We only allowed 84 goals against in 55 games (1.52GAA) Overall, we didn't meet our "goals for average" for the year (being 3 plus goals per game), but check out the stats below.
Before playoffs, we played 37 games and only scored 75 goals which is a 2.03GFA. This is why, we spent a lot of time in the new year working on how to generate more goals and look at the results! In 18 playoff games, we scored 53 goals which averages 2.94 GF (just shy of our goal)
This is why I am so pleased with this team. They never gave up and they kept on improving all year long! To my 2007 births, I wish you all the best in life and whatever you end up doing next year! To my 2008's, the foundation has been laid! Let's now build on it!
