Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
VULNERABLE SECTOR CHECK
The process for the Vulnerable Sector Checks (VSC) has been centralized and will be conducted by the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) for all Team Officials and Team Personnel starting the 2024 - 2025 season.
The OHF will process and update your Hockey Canada profile. This is no longer done by the local association.
The following individuals who are associated with the OHF, Members, Seniors, Juniors, Minor, and Female (Associations, Teams, Clubs) must adhere to the OHF Screening Policy and submit to the OHF:
- Team Officials (including and not limited to Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Trainers, Managers and overall Team volunteers)
- Anyone else who, through their duties on behalf of the OHF, a Member, Senior, Junior, Minor and Female Hockey (Associations, Teams, Clubs) may work with children (included but not limited to on-ice volunteer, skills coaches, third party skills coaches and dressing room supervisors)
Eligibility to be a Volunteer
It is imperative for all team staff, on-ice and off-ice volunteers as well as 3rd-party instructors ensure their Vulnerable Sector Check is completed and approved by the OHF to be eligible to participate with on-ice or off-ice team functions. This includes a valid Vulnerable Sector Check and the OHF Screening Declaration Form. Applications are processed through your local police service. Before entering the OHF Screening Submission Portal, please ensure you are ready with the necessary documentation.
To start the OHF VSC Approval Process
You will need
(1) your Hockey Canada Registry (HCR) Number,
(2) your valid Vulnerable Sector Check (PDF)
(3) your Declaration Form is now done online during the OHF VSC process.
If you require a new VSC, the OHF volunteer letter needed when applying for a new VSC from your local police department is available below.
Do not upload your VSC to your personal HCR (Spordle) profile. It must be only uploaded during the OHF VSC Process.
Please Note:
1. All documents must be in PDF format to be accepted.
2. For the 2024-25 season, the OHF will be accepting copies of a Vulnerable Sector Check from 2022-23 or 2023-24. If you require a copy of your valid VSC, please reach out to the hockey office for a copy.
